-விளிம்பு (By Sujatha)

Girls on posters in India

While waiting for each signal during my 1 hour office travel I feel very disturbing when I see posters or cut outs which showcases girls like a modern skin showing toy.  A Big cut out when I crosses the J.P Nagar, I couldn't see  even for a moment. A model who is advertising for a silk sari showing her left part wherein her sari was not covered intentionally. I am damn sure that these kind of  posts definitely would attract, but still I am not getting the business tactics to sell that sari for which 90% of these posters are attracted by boys and no boys are wearing that 5 meter silk cloth for any Reception and Marriage. Film posters are one another thing which I feel like jumping down from the bus and tearing it. In 99% of these film posters showing upper and belly part of the girls are mandatory otherwise Indian films and its contribution to the society will be halted. Oh my god! Where am I ? Do I belong to this place? Sometimes my conscience pops! Women are not only taken for granted, but they can be shown as a piece of meat in every nook and corner of the street walls with free of cost only in India. No girls are aspiring to see boy’s parts inch wise in the center of city for any jockey advertisement. No Wonder we are going to early man age when other countries are progressing very fast in a very descent manner!
